4006 The Bald Eagle
Jon MinardRoom 221
This is a slideshow of the Bald Eagle and the story of how Ohio went from 4 nests in 1972 to 707 in 2021! We will see the steps taken by Federal and local governments to save the eagle for future generations.
My story with eagles starts in 1996 when I became a nest monitor volunteer for ODNR after seeing an eagle in the wild for the first time. I began taking classes on how to watch and report on eagle activity and was assigned a nest to report data. I am now watching about 17 in Knox County alone! I have given many classes to various groups as well as taken students from Kenyon College out to sites. I'm married to my Photographer wife Debbie Hurlbert and we make quite a team in the field.
