3004 The Race for Red

This course will review the history of red petioles and flowers and show their current status, plus who’s working on them Blushing in hosta will be examined with the latest results shown.

Doug has spent over 25 years hybridizing hosta. One of his cultivars, H. World Cup was recognized as Hosta of the Year in 2018. He feels he is on the right track now working with tetraploids and the reds. Doug was AHS President between 2011 and 2013. Doug has participated in Hosta Roundtables at the AHS national conventions.
